JCJC’s Jasper County Center offering non-credit classes | Events

Jones County Junior College’s Center in Bay Springs is offering eight non-credit courses this fall. Computer options include Mouse and Keyboarding, Introduction to Personal Computers, Windows7 and Microsoft Excel 2010 Basic. Other classes include Stained Glass for the advanced and beginner, Sewing for Beginners and Intro to Genealogy. CEU’s are available for computer courses upon request. The deadline to register is one week before classes begin.
Artist B.J. Hatten will be teaching the Stained Glass non-credit course meeting on Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., on the Bay Springs campus. The basic skills learned in this course include being able to construct a colorful glass creation. The $75 fee for the course does not include the cost for supplies which will be distributed at registration. This course has already begun meeting and will continue through Feb. 26. Introduction to Stained Glass will begin on Jan. 31. Classes will meet on Thursday nights, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. through March 7. The cost of this introductory class is $75 plus supplies. Depending upon enrollment, additional consecutive stained glasses classes will follow.
Sewing for Beginners requires students to own a sewing machine and will meet on Monday, February 18, from 5:30 through 8:30 p.m. The cost is $25. Pat Abney and Diana Montgomery will be teaching this course geared for the novice sewer.
Genealogy workshop, “Learn to Climb Your Family Tree” will be taught by Clarise Fleck Soper, the founding President of the Jasper County Historical & Genealogical Society. The workshop will be held on Feb. 21, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. for a cost of $10.
Mouse and Keyboarding will meet on Thursday nights in February beginning the 7th, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The cost of this class is $35.
Introduction to Personal Computers will meet on Thursday nights beginning on March 21, through April 11, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Learn how to switch on a PC, manage files and folders, use e-mail and browse the Web with Internet Explorer. The cost of the class is $55
The Windows 7 class will meet on Thursday nights beginning on April 18, through May 9, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The cost is $55
Microsoft Excel 2010 Basic will begin on Thursday, May 16, through June 6, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The cost is $55.
